This LCD is a replacement for the 14-pin display. Ribbon cable is 15mm wide (0.6in)
Same size and color as the original Autostar display. White characters with red background. (red background is from the unit's built in backlight that is not changed)
Bonus! This LCD uses copper traces instead of the silver painted junk tracings on the original Autostar 497. The silver paint dries up and cracks over time where the ribbon cable bends. That will never happen with copper trace!
Also works in the AudioStar
This DOES NOT WORK in the 494 I have tested it on the 494 P/N 15-8003-00 Rev E and it did not light up at all

AutoStar II
Just thought we'd drop you a note and inform you that your LCD display module for the Meade hand controllers works perfectly in an AutostarII had controller. Only wrinkle is you need to put a 1n4148 signal diode across a filter capacitor in the contrast control circuit. Otherwise "it won't light up". Details are in a Cloudy Nights forum (excerpt attached).
I picked up this led display and the TELESCOPE CONTROLLER keypad repair membrane and now my 24 year old Meade controller is just like new. Fast shipping. 100% satisfied. If you take your time and go slow you might make this small project last 30 minutes
