Why does the LED break in the first place??
One of the weaknesses of this phone is the precision. They left no wiggle room in any areas. When the phone gets old and dropped a few times the LCD moves. There is no room for the LCD to move without bumping into the LED and breaking the solder.

Re-soldering the old LED is difficult
Once broken the LED will not be as strong
Too much solder and the LCD no longer fits
Sometimes the LED is broken beyond repair
Old LEDs are no longer as bright

This new LED is easier to install than attempting to repair the old one. It's brighter and can no longer be broken off by the LCD moving.
