The ButtonWorx™ film is placed over the backlight film and under the rubber keypad. Then the original rubber keypad buttons press down on the ButtonWorx™ buttons. The backlight film acts as a spacer to hold the ButtonWorx™ away from the gold forked contacts on the circuit board until the original rubber keypad buttons press them down.

Metal Snap Dome Buttons Require Deoxit Gold

Directionals, OK, VOL, Channel, Mute, Prev, Activities and the 6 buttons to the right and left of the display are all metal snap domes. If these are acting up, they can be cleaned using Deoxit Gold G100L.

You can warm up the plastic film holding the snap dome buttons down using a hair dryer to loosen the adhesive. Peel up only part of the film to expose some of the buttons. Clean those with Deoxit Gold, replace the film and then do it again on the others until they are all cleaned. Removing only part of the film makes it easy to place back down without loosing alignment positions of the domes.

Professional installation
Mail your remote in for button repair. Includes the ButtonWorx™ membrane and metal dome switches cleaned using Deoxit Gold. Shipping is for returning your remote after repair. You will still need to mail your remote in for installation service. Remove the battery before shipping. USPS First Class package is recommended. Double wrap the remote in two bubble mailers or similar. It should be just under 8oz shipping weight.
