I recently used a BW-70KIT to repair a Sony RMF-TX310U TV remote for a

Sony X900F Series flat panel TV.

I had already used the ButtonWorx product before to repair an alarm

panel, so I knew it worked.

Photo 1 shows the remote with the back battery cover removed.

Photo 2 shows a comparison of the rubber membrane and the circuit

board.  I don't normally use all of the buttons on the remote, so I

wanted to see which button circuit traces I wouldn't need.  This photo

shows the membrane and circuit board after they were cleaned with 90%

isopropyl alcohol.  When I got the remote apart for this repair, the

membrane contacts and the circuit traces were filthy with some sort of

oil and other gook.  I had cleaned this remote about 2 years earlier

before I had heard of the ButtonWorx product.  The cleaning restored

operation temporarily, but cleaning repairs only work for a limited time

and will eventually destroy the conductive material on the membrane

buttons.  It's also very difficult to get this remote apart.  A very

small screwdriver or razor blade must be slid down the side of the

remote so the tabs can be released.  Time for a permanent repair with

ButtonWorx.

Photo 3 shows the completed repair.  I ended up covering virtually all

of the button circuit traces.  I had purchased two of the BW-70KIT

packages to ensure I would have enough buttons for the repair.  It's

possible to fix this remote with only one BW-70KIT.  Virtually all of

the buttons in the kit are used in the repair, so do not purchase a

smaller kit.

I guess this remote is used with a lot of Sony TVs from the 2019 time

frame.  I considered scanning the circuit board so we could work

together to develop a unitized keypad.  Unfortunately, we did not have

another remote which could control the TV, and the wife watches a lot of

TV.  Perhaps best to forego the new product development and just keep

the wife happy.

So far, all the buttons are back to working order!

Thanks for a great product!
