This button repair works in most rubber keypad contact switches to restore like-new button function
Does not work for snap-dome metal switches
If your keypad is made with rubber contacts for the switch (with or without plastic key caps) this is what you need to restore function permanently. BUT since there are countless designs of rubber buttons there may be some that are too tightly packed or unusual construction that do not allow a universal button to operate properly.  If this does not work for what you need - LET ME KNOW! I will do my best to help you and if we can solve it, the solution can be added to the product line.

Now keep in mind that no "universal" repair solution can work in every conceivable device. ButtonWorx™ individual buttons will work in the most common rubber keypad designs which should cover about 99% of what's out there. There are countless different devices however and occasionally I run into some of them need special techniques. If the button design is complex with a lot of extras in the mix then a button could need to be very specific shape to fit around components, it could need a thicker spacer or a slit cut to make it more flexible for really soft buttons. Sometimes universal isn't the answer or maybe just not practical. That's why ButtonWorx™ comes in hundreds of designs for specific needs with new designs being made all the time.

Universal Keypad Repair Kit Results

I used it to repair a 10+ year old TCL TV remote. I had attempted to clean and repair the buttons on this remote several times over the years with only short-term results. This kit is seeming to work well. It's only been a few hours, but I expect this to be a long-term fix. Thanks!

An Ingenious Solution Made In The United States!

The power, volume, and TV device selector buttons wore out on my Panasonic RM-VLZ620 learning remote. In the past I would repair worn out buttons by shaving the conductive layer off an old remote’s rubber keypad, then gluing it on to the keypad’s worn out button on the remote I’m repairing. Although this worked well, after a couple of months the piece I glued to the keypad would fall off and the button would stop working. So I decided to try this because it attaches to the circuit board rather than the keypad.

Based on all the positive reviews I was fairly certain this would work well with the larger power and volume buttons that were worn out. However, on the Panasonic RM-VLZ620 there are 8 device selector buttons, and each selector button has 2 tiny little contacts that are about 3mm x 3mm in size, with a tiny center LED between the 2 contacts. The 16 contacts for the 8 device selector buttons are extremely close together. I really didn’t think I’d be able to repair my worn out TV device selector button because the adhesive perimeter around even the smallest button in this kit would overlap onto the adjacent device selector button contacts on the circuit board.

My worn-out TV device selector button is on the top left side of the remote, and there’s no button adjacent to it on the left side. The left edge of the circuit board was the only area where I could place the adhesive perimeter without having it cover the tiny center LED. I had to cut one of the pads in this kit in half so the adhesive perimeter wouldn't cover the LED on the right side. Then I had to significantly trim down the adhesive perimeter on the top and bottom so it wouldn’t overlap onto another button’s contact.

This worked, but it caused the device selector button immediately under it to stop working. At first I thought my repair somehow overlapped onto the lower button’s contact, but that wasn’t the problem. When I placed the repair on the circuit board for the upper button, it prevented the lower button from making contact with the circuit board. This happened because these two device selector buttons are so close together, and although the lower button was initially working, it’s safe to assume that it was fairly worn out too. Placing this thin repair so close to the lower button prevented it from making contact, so I repaired the lower button in the same way. I also repaired the worn out power and volume up/down buttons with 3 of the larger repair pads, and now the entire remote works perfectly.

I understand that the longevity of a repair with this kit is based on applying the repair pads with their full perimeter of adhesive. I made my repair by cutting a pad in half and trimming down the perimeter of adhesive on the remaining 3 sides, so it may not last. However, I made the repair 4 weeks ago and it still works. This is a great product that’s made in the United States.

Fixed my CPAP machine

I use my older ResMed Escape II CPAP when I travel. The Start/Stop button has been getting fussy. Two small dots did the trick. It works like it did when it was new!
